Dear Members,

As you may be aware, hackers entered into the University Park Recreation District Board of Supervisors (“UPRD Board”) meeting on Friday, August 13th. The hackers, who appear to be non-University Park residents/members, interrupted the meeting with unmuted vocal bantering and displayed an inappropriate and offensive symbol of hate and racial supremacism. Please know that the UPRD Board and Club Management take these matters extremely seriously. The hacking and offensive use of hate speech has been reported to the US Attorney’s office in Tampa, FL and also the FBI. The FBI has since responded and has begun an investigation. In addition, Club Management is working with District Management, PFM, to minimize the risk of this occurring in the future.

As a governmental entity, we are required to hold public meetings. Due to COVID-19, we have relied on the ZOOM technology platform to hold such meetings and it, unfortunately, carries risk. Please know we are doing everything in our power to identify the hackers of this unfortunate incident and are also working to ensure it never happens again.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
