UNIVERSITY PARK RECREATION DISTRICT MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
At the recent Recreation District meeting, various topics were discussed, much of which focused on the advancement of Phase 1 of the Master Plan. While the dining renovations and pickleball area will be the primary focus over the next several months, Management and the Board continue to discuss the subsequent phases of the Plan and the club’s needs as we move forward. Soon you will begin receiving Master Plan updates to your inbox. Our goal is to provide members and residents with timely progress reports relating to the Master Plan and related projects. Master Plan Updates
The Dining room and outdoor Café renovation project is currently underway. Club Design Group (CDG) has provided impressive initial design concepts for the outdoor bar and social gathering spaces. Additionally, the interior aesthetics have been established and will continue to be developed in the coming weeks. Gallo Herbert Architects is under contract for the architectural portion of the project and will be working in conjunction with CDG to make our vision a reality.

At the July Recreation District Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board voted to approve the construction of four pickleball courts on the current croquet pitch, the construction of a new croquet greensward on the grassy area between courts 4 and 10, and landscape improvements from the club entrance and around the new pickleball courts. The decision was unanimous by the Board, which supported Management’s recommendations. Since then, the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the new pickleball courts and related landscaping has been completed and published. We are optimistic we will have much interest in the project, and we continue to push for the work to begin as soon as possible.
Curtis Nickerson and his team continue to work on preliminary plans and material acquisition to construct the new croquet greensward. Management hopes that the new croquet pitch is substantially complete by the beginning of the pickleball court installation, so croquet play has as little downtime as possible.
Additional Highlights from the August 13, 2021 Board meeting include:
- The Board has approved the FY 2022 Budgets for General Fund and Country Club. These will commence as of October 1, 2021, thru September 30, 2022. Details are available on the Recreation District website at universityparkrd.com/annual-budget.
- The golf course maintenance project is nearing completion. This project includes leveling and expanding select tees, rebuilding greenside bunkers, and repairing/removing a considerable amount of broken cart paths.
